A Bayesian Hierarchical Spatial Copula Model: An Application to Extreme Temperatures in Extremadura (Spain)

نویسندگان

چکیده

A Bayesian hierarchical framework with a Gaussian copula and generalized extreme value (GEV) marginal distribution is proposed for the description of spatial dependencies in data. This model was applied to summer temperatures over Extremadura Region, southwest Spain, during period 1980–2015, compared noncopula model. The implemented Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) method that allows model’s parameters be estimated. results show GEV distribution’s shape parameter take constant negative values, location altitude dependent, scale values concentrated around same throughout region. Further, chosen presents lower deviance information criterion (DIC) when distributions are assumed than taken

Prevalence of metabolic syndrome in Extremadura, Spain.

We read with interest the article by León et al1 who studied a sample of workers aged 25 to 64 years recruited during their routine medical checkup exams undertaken by the prevention services of FREMAP during 2003 and estimated an overall prevalence of the metabolic syndrome (MS) of 13.4%, higher in men (15.9%) than in women (5.2%). What really caught our attention, though, was that the greates...

A Hierarchical Max-stable Spatial Model for Extreme Precipitation1

Extreme environmental phenomena such as major precipitation events manifestly exhibit spatial dependence. Max-stable processes are a class of asymptotically-justified models that are capable of representing spatial dependence among extreme values. While these models satisfy modeling requirements, they are limited in their utility because their corresponding joint likelihoods are unknown for mor...

Estimating the Term Structure With a Semiparametric Bayesian Hierarchical Model: An Application to Corporate Bonds.

The term structure of interest rates is used to price defaultable bonds and credit derivatives, as well as to infer the quality of bonds for risk management purposes. We introduce a model that jointly estimates term structures by means of a Bayesian hierarchical model with a prior probability model based on Dirichlet process mixtures. The modeling methodology borrows strength across term struct...
